Design A Dungeon Room Contest Winners
Thanks to everyone who entered our Design A Dungeon Room Contest, and a special thanks to all the people who helped out with the judging!
It was a lot of fun seeing the different entries come in, and the wide variety of approaches to a “Dungeon” adventure that they represent. Some people focused on Traps & Tricks, others interesting NPCS, and some on challenging combat scenarios. We had entries for a range of different types of games from “Old School” D&D and Tunnels & Trolls, to 4th Edition D&D.
With more space to focus on describing a single room it was easier to get a sense for the entrants approaches to running a dungeon as well. Some preferred a simple situation and relied on the players and game system to make something interesting happen, while others had more customized and pre-scripted surprises to unleash on their players.
Having multiple judges was great as our individual “top 10″ choices all reflected our own unique approaches to Dungeon Adventures as well.
I think the best part of the contest was the diversity of ways people can get creative with the game and make something fun and original.

Thanks for running the contest. That was fun!
Yeah, I usually don’t enter these sort of things
It was a blast!
So much fun!
I get corruption errors when attempting to download and open the file. Is there another mirror I could attempt to download from?
I just downloaded it again and it worked okay for me… not sure what to suggest. Any other link will be the same file.
My apologies, seems I just needed to use a different PDF reader.
Awesome, thank you for this. Very great idea and an excellent collection of dungeon rooms. Congrats to the winners, and hell, everyone wins really !

Do you care what we do with these, now that the contest is over? I was thinking of fleshing mine out a bit more as a sort of mini-adventure, since I cut a lot of detail. I don’t recall the terms of the contest, though.
