I'm a fan of game books; they let a person play any time they want and be the game master. I took Lone Wolf and expnded the rules and options a little, to give more variety. The same thing with other series like Fighting Fantasy. Not always: i did a lot of playing as-is, too.

I was even thinking recently how sad it is that there aren't any current commercial game book series I know of. Reprints or fan versions or downloads on web sites (most of which I've played to death...). But nothing new I can go and grab from a book store, with neat art and fun adventures.

I've been thinking of trying to write up some solo adventures, using perhaps a very simple system made up on-the-spot (gotta avoid copyright issues). It tedious (I did one and it took a while) and I really can't play them and have fun myself and I'm not the most creative creature on earth...

But I really do miss game books. Pick one up, and a pencil and maybe some d6s and enjoy a fun adventure or two...
